What we collect
If you send an enquiry, ask for a call or ask for a detailed estimate, we collect your name and your work email and, if you give them, your company's name and website. The estimator on our home page asks for no details about you.
If you ask for a call, we also collect your phone number and the time of day you prefer. If you write us a message, we keep what you tell us in it and the topic you choose. With a request for a detailed estimate, we also keep the estimator settings you send: the number of staff, the years trading and the kinds of data your company uses. If you ask for a referral link, we collect your name, work email, firm name, firm website and the kind of adviser you are.
Like every website, ours receives some technical details with each page you open: your IP address, your browser type, the page you asked for and the time. Our hosting provider keeps these in a log for security and to fix faults.
If an adviser sent you to us, the link you followed carries the adviser's referral code. We save that code with your enquiry so we know who referred you.
We do not ask for any company, customer or staff data through this site, so please do not send any.
Why we use your data and our lawful basis
| Why we use it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| To reply to your enquiry, call request or estimate request and talk to you about whether your company fits | Legitimate interests. We need to answer people who ask us about data licensing |
| To introduce your company to the licensing company by passing on your details | Your consent |
| To record which adviser referred you, so the right adviser is credited | Legitimate interests |
| To keep the site secure and working | Legitimate interests. We need to protect the site and the people who use it |
| To count visits and see which pages are read | Legitimate interests. We need to know whether the site helps the people it is for |
| To keep a record of introductions, handle complaints and deal with legal claims | Legitimate interests, and legal obligation where a law tells us to keep a record |
Who we share your data with
- The licensing company. This is a company in the United States that licenses business data to AI companies. We pass your details to it only if you agree, and we tell you its name before you decide. Once it has your details, it is responsible for them under its own privacy policy.
- The adviser who referred you, if there was one. We tell them whether your company went ahead.
- Companies that provide services to us, which are Vercel (website hosting and visit counts, United States), Supabase (storing enquiries, United Kingdom) and Google (email, United States). They may use your data only as we tell them to.
- Our lawyers and accountants, and a court or regulator, if the law requires it or we need to deal with a legal claim.
- A buyer of our business, if we ever sell it.
We do not sell your details. We do not give them to anyone for their own advertising.
Sending your details outside the UK
The licensing company is in the United States.
How long we keep your data
If you ask us to stop contacting you, we keep your email address on a "do not contact" list so that we can respect your request.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it and ask us to limit how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can ask us to give your data to you or to another company in a common file format.
Your right to object
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to our using your data. If you object to marketing, we always stop. For other uses we stop unless we have a strong reason to continue, and we tell you which it is.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, tell us first through the form on our contact page. We confirm we have your complaint within 30 days, look into it and tell you the outcome without delay.
You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commission (ICO), at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Whether you must give us your data, and automated decisions
You do not have to give us any details. If you choose not to, we cannot reply to you or introduce your company.
The estimator works out its range automatically from the settings you choose. It does not decide anything about you as a person, and a person at Arcline Data reads every enquiry before we take any further step.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site sets no cookies and uses no advertising trackers. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which tells a repeat visit apart by a code made from your request in place of a cookie, and deletes that code after 24 hours. It records the page you open, the page you came from, your country and region, and your browser, operating system and type of device. We see totals only, not who you are.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we update this page and, where the change affects details we already hold, we email you.
